The US government slapped new sanctions on Russians, including the ice dancing wife of Kremlin spox Dmitry Peskov and the banker who pays a woman linked to Putin. Among those sanctioned is Yuri Kovalchuck, who is known as 'Putin's banker' and who owns shares in the media firm chaired by former Olympic gymnast Alina Kabaeva. She reportedly met Putin when she was 18, but the Kremlin denies a relationship. Peskov's wife, who also won Olympic Gold, has property holdings worth $10 million, according to the Treasury, despite Peskov technically being a 'civil servant.'

'Russian troops have not let our aid into the city and continue to torture our people... tomorrow [Saturday] we will try again, try again to send food, water and medicine' Zelenskiy said. The Kremlin-owned Tass news agency painted a damning picture for those stuck in the city after quoting Russian Colonel Mikhail Mizintsev as saying all bridge into the city were destroyed and roads had been laid with mines. It comes as Putin turned his attention to civilian strongholds some hundreds of miles from Kyiv in central and western Ukraine as huge explosions illuminated the night sky in Dnipro and Lutsk as residents experienced Russian artillery attacks for the first time.

Valeriia Maksetska, 31, was shot dead alongside her mother Irina and their driver by a passing Russian tank in a village outside Kyiv. Friends have hailed the late Maksetska as a 'brave' woman, saying she stayed in Ukraine to help locals under siege after Russia invaded more than two weeks ago. She made the fateful decision to flee the country when her mother's medicine ran out and the pair were driving towards Ukraine's western borders when they were ambushed by a Russia tank convoy. Maksetska had pulled over to let Moscow's men passed when one allegedly opened fire on her car, killing the 31-year-old, her mother and their driver. USAID administrator Samantha Power confirmed all three died in the attack. She said: 'I'm enormously sad to share the death of Valeriia 'Lera' Maksetska - proud Ukrainian, beloved USAID implementing partner & brilliant, compassionate leader on building social cohesion & fighting disinformation. She was killed by the Russian military just shy of her 32nd birthday.'

A late-winter storm combining rivers of moisture and frigid temperatures is expected to dump snow from the Deep South to the Canadian border over the weekend, with more than 20 million Americans under a winter weather alert as of Friday evening. Snowfall totals range from about one to three inches in northern parts of Alabama and Mississippi to about 13 inches in northern Maine. The storm could cause travel problems and power outages across a wide part of the Eastern United States from late Friday through early next week. The storm is first passing through the central US, threatening parts of the central Gulf Coast, Georgia, the Florida Panhandle and the Carolinas with severe thunderstorms from Friday night into Saturday, CNN reports. The system is referred to by some as an ominous-sounding 'bomb cyclone,' which forms when a storm decreases in pressure by 24 millibars in under 24 hours. Several school districts from Kansas to Pennsylvania have announced they're shutting down ahead of the late-winter storm. More than 500 fights within the US are already cancelled for Friday and 6,404 are reporting possible delays, according to tracking website FlightAware. For Saturday, 495 flights have already been cancelled. 'With this bomb cyclone, maybe what's the biggest concern is how late in the season it's coming and that it's traveling over inland areas,' said Judah Cohen, a winter storm expert for Atmospheric Environmental Research, a commercial firm outside of Boston.

Network co-president Neeraj Khemlani (right) is allegedly looking to cut costs and has reportedly been butting heads with O'Donnell for the past year. Speculation about her potential replacement rose when CBS show declining ratings as Russia invaded Ukraine. Some sources allege the decline in ratings stems from O'Donnell failing to travel to Eastern Europe like other leading evening news anchors did. Accusations that Khemlani wanted to replace O'Donnell first rose last year at which time he said there were no plans for staffing changes. Khemlani has not commented on the most recent replacement rumors. However, he did say Friday: 'We support Norah and the Evening News team and the quality journalism they deliver each and every night'. Meantime, insiders have pointed to CBS Mornings anchor Tony Dokoupil as O'Donnell's possible successor.

Emmett Till's relatives asked Mississippi and federal authorities on Friday to reverse their decision to close an investigation into the black teenager's 1955 lynching. They are also asking authorities to instead prosecute Carolyn Bryant Donham, the white woman witnesses alleged Till, 14, whistled at before he was abducted, tortured and killed. Federal officials had previously reopened the investigation after a 2017 book quoted Donham as saying she lied when she said Till accosted her, but the Justice Department said the author was unable to produce recordings or transcripts to substantiate his account.

A rampaging camel attacked and killed Bobby Matheny, 42, and Tommy Gunn, 67, at a Tennessee petting zoo in Obion County on Thursday afternoon. The Obion County Sheriff's Office announced on Friday that they first started receiving calls about 'two people being viciously attacked by a camel' at around 4.44pm, and by the time deputies arrived on the scene of Shirley Farms, they found two unconscious victims. Officers on the scene tried to render aid, but as deputies tried to transport one of the victims to EMS, the camel moved towards them, at which point they put the camel down 'for the safety of everyone on [the] scene.'

Attorney Brian Panish claimed Alec Baldwin (right), 63, was trying to minimize the role he played in the October 21 incident that killed Halyna Hutchins (left, pictured with the actor on set) as Baldwin appeared to pass the blame onto the victim during an arbitration demand filed on Friday. Baldwin also claimed that his contract shielded him from any financial responsibility related to Hutchins' death and that the lawsuit against the actor filed by the victim's family was what prevented the $7 million movie's completion. Despite the tragedy, Baldwin, had attempted to convince cast and crew to finish filming 'Rust' in Hutchins' honor in the weeks after the shooting and have the proceeds from the movie go towards a settlement with the woman's husband, Matthew Hutchins, and nine-year-old son, according to the filings that also revealed Baldwin had been texting Matthew.

Median rents in Manhattan hit an all-time high of $3,700 per month in February, a 24 percent increase from a year ago, according to a new report from brokerage Douglas Elliman. As offices reopen and young people flood back to the city, New York's apartment supply has plunged, and landlords are pressing their advantage by raising rents to new highs.

Joel Praneet Siam, 38, of San Diego, vandalized cars and stole a boat at Newport Beach in California on Thursday. He was arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail on a $3million bond and it is unclear if he was under the influence during the robbery. He stole the boat around 9.30am after being chased by police and took the book a joyride, hitting dozens of boats and injuring one, before crashing the boat. Dramatic footage captured from a biker in Puebla, Mexico, shows the moment a grey Toyota SUV's door swung open when making a left turn on a busy intersection as a boy in a red shirt could be spotted holding onto the door. Someone inside the vehicle screams as the boy desperately hangs onto the door while his feet begin to drag on the road. The biker filming the harrowing scene appears to speed up to try and catch the boy. The SUV is able to come to a stop and an older person grabs the boy and sits him away from the door as a man pops out of the passenger seat to asses the situation. The biker, speaking in Spanish, asks if the boy is okay. After receiving confirmation that the child is alright, the biker lets out a sigh of relief and drives away.
