ANEL & HENK MALAN
Baobab’s accommodation started with a dream of a young couple. Getting married and moving from the hassle of city life and becoming a farmer’s wife. I dreamed of doing my own thing, earning additional income for myself and the farm. Most important was to have contact with other people, as Marnitz is situated in one of South Africa’s remote areas.
Baobab’s accommodation firstly started with only one 4 bed self-catering cottages in 2002, through the years more cottages were added. We mainly catered for families and 4×4 groups. I then realized that a different style of accommodation was needed in the Koedoesrand Bushveld in Limpopo Province. Secondly we purchased a small piece of land next to the N11 in 2015 and transformed a 100 year old farm house into 11 en-suite rooms.
Above all What we love is meeting new people and interacting with them. We’re especially well known for our hospitality and good service. Typical to Koedoesrand now shops are found in our nearest town, Lephalale which is aprox 120km’s from us. We have a small farm stall (Baobab Padstal) that stocks only the bare necessities, biltong and dry wors. We are within 32-40km’s from the Groblersbrug / Martin’s Drift border post – gateway to Botswana, Zimbabwe or the rest of Africa.
In addition Baobab’s Bushveld Rest is only 4km’s and the Farm Cottage 11,5km from the Awarded and popular Bordeaux Wedding venue. In conclusion “Arrive as a guest but leave as a friend” may be a well-known slogan, but at Baobab you will experience this for yourself. We look forward to meeting you.
